Cork company targets US troops with cost-saving SIM cards
Irish Examiner, 25 September, 2008
An American soldier getting a call from his family at home would normally be charged $20-$25 for three minutes. With our SIM he would be charged just $1.50,” said Pat Phelan, the company’s CEO.

Wow that is a big differnece in price. I never realized it cost that much for a 3 minute phone call.
Even for the savings on SMSs alone I’m sure this would be of great use.
Because of the time difference between the US and Afghanistan it might not always be possible for the soldiers to call their loved ones when they are free.
